What personal data we collect and why
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown on the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser data, to assist in spam detection.
If you upload images to the site, avoid uploading those that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download these images from the website and extract their location data from them.
When you leave a comment on the site, you can choose to save your name, e-mail address, and website in cookies. This is for your comfort, so you don’t have to fill in your data again when you make another comment. These cookies last for one year.
If you have an account and access this site, a temporary cookie will be created to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It does not contain any personal data and will be discarded when you close your browser.
When you log into your account on the site, we also create several cookies to save your account data and your screen display choices. Login cookies are kept for two days and screen option cookies for one year. If you select “Remember me”, your access will be maintained for two weeks. If you log out of your account, login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie does not include any personal data and simply indicates the post ID for the article you have just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, articles, etc. Embedded content from other sites behaves exactly the same as if the visitor were visiting the other site.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. We do this so that we can automatically recognize and approve any subsequent comments instead of holding them back for moderation.
For users who register on our site (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (only their username cannot be changed). Site administrators can also view and edit this information.
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we maintain about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we remove any personal data we maintain about you. This does not include any data that we are required to maintain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
While you visit our site, we track it:
- Products you have viewed: we will use this to, for example, show the products you have recently viewed
- Location, IP address and browser type: we will use this for rate estimation and shipping purposes
- Shipping address: we will ask you to enter this so that we can estimate shipping rates before we place an order and ship the order to you!
When you purchase from us, we ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, e-mail address, phone number, credit card/payment details, and optional account information such as username and password. We will use this information for purposes such as:
- Send you your account and order information
- Respond to your requests, including chargebacks and complaints
- Processes payments and prevents fraud
- Set up an account in our store
- Comply with all legal obligations we have, such as calculating fees
- Improve our offers
- Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them
If you create an account, we will store your name, address, e-mail, and phone number, and this data will be used to fill out the checkout page on future orders.
We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collected and used it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for 5 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, e-mail address, billing and shipping addresses.
We will also store comments or ratings, if you choose to leave them.
Our staff members have access to the information you provide us. For example, store administrators and managers can access:
- Order information, such as what was purchased, when it was purchased, and where it should be shipped, and
- Customer information such as your name, e-mail address, and billing and delivery information.
Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds, and support you.
